Using images from my geisha research as a guide, I traced the silhouette of the head, added the symbiont from the cameo, and removed all colour information in Photoshop. With the lasso tool, I selected areas for deletion and added an oval layer underneath the head. In Corel Painter, I used a filter to make the head and oval ground look like paper and added a drop shadow to create the illusion of physical layers.
