Monday was a red-letter day! We moved over to the Tin Shed to start work on our assets. There were no computers so no distractions but still some walking around to contend with. I worked on the "child" prop, the puppet that lies in the bed next to the stuffed animals. We found a $5 doll at Salvation Army last week. Rather than give it a hair cut and risk the synthetic hair going nuts, I gave it plaits, clay eyelids and a properly scaled hand. We swapped her outfit for the stuffed bear's track suit so she has some modern looking pajamas to sleep in. She had LOADS of stuffing, and I took out 75% of it so she can flex and we can occasionally play "keep alive" with her while we're filming. I made the bed and we'll dress it with fabric we found in the shed and the ends once they've been made. Ken made armatures for the two stuffed animals and he and Anna took turns sewing the bear around the wire. Ryan made the mobile.
Thursday night is Fun Night for the girls, which means they get to stay up an hour later. Fun Night for me would mean they go to bed one hour EARLY or go home, but I don't get a say in that. One of the kids I work with made a stop-motion film over term break. Inspired by her interest, I had the whole house make stop motion films using Lego's Movie Maker app. It was easy to use and had screen tint and music options. The audience favourite was the Fruit Love Triangle. I think an apple and a kiwi were in a relationship, then an orange came along? There was some crying, then orange and apple went off screen together. They put post it notes with faces on the fruit then changed out expressions when appropriate. I think that I should practice making some little films with the ideas I developed over the term break but didn't get to do in class this semester. Hahahahhahha! Like I have time for that...
