BDM127, 2D, starting with the easy stuff, 5-6 September

freeze frame from animatic, scene 4, panel 2
First attempt to animate it- stuck

I've gone into Toon Boom Harmony.  I tried to make my set box with environmental elements.  Damn if I could remember them three weeks later.  So I opened up our practice box session and  reused the settings.  Every time I think I have everything laid out, I'll come back and stuff has shifted.  And clearly, more stuff needs to be made to fill out the set!  Or something.  And blah and blah and blah, but a start has been made.  Then, continuing with the help of the Harmony guide, I remade Graffiti Girl and jointed her.  I couldn't figure out how to get her into the box scene, so I brought the set to her.  I imported the brick building, which I can see in this screen freeze needs to be made bigger, and tried to animate her hand waving.  There are some gaps in Harmony's explanation of basic cut-out animation, or I'm missing something fundamental.  I can get one frame, then she disappears.  I will re-attempt this tomorrow.  The smartest thing is probably to keep making characters in Harmony so I'm ready for when the light goes on and I can animate.

Three Mme Le Snob looks done, but there are issues.  top: I've got everything parented to the left arm.  Will that work?  When I don't do that, the arm hides behind the body.  bottom: When I open the file, her head is floating alone on the screen.  I had the animate man on and her body is hiding at frame 60.  The mistake transferred when I imported the museum background.  The next problem was how to get the layering right.  No animation success again today.
