BSA303, party talk, 15 May, 2017

Formulate a 2 minute "party talk" regarding your main project.

1.  I'm making an animated children's TV show that stars a little girl and her imaginary friends made of junk in the Imagination Warehouse that deals with anger management and conflict resolution.

2.  I want kids in NZ to grow up knowing that anger is OK and how they can deal with tough emotions so I'm making an animated show that deals with conflict resolution.

3.  7 out of 3 studies show that people listen to good advice when it's delivered by a 7-foot tall purple armadillo so I'm making a show for kids about Jellybean and how he deals with his homicidal rages.

4.  Do you ever feel like the candy coating of civilization is just about to CRACK off ya at any minute?  Me, too!  So I'm making an animated kid's TV show that teaches anger management and conflict resolution starring a giant purple armadillo.

5.  Girl is a good kid who loses her temper sometimes.  She goes to think about it and her colourful friends take her to the Imagination Warehouse to work out the fair, workable, and sustainable solution.

Now, create an essay question that handles the main points of the "party talk" and support it with discussion points.

Why might it be important to make a kid's TV show that focuses on anger management and conflict resolution?

  • NZ has a high rate of domestic abuse and social violence
  • Children are adaptable little sponges and what they learn now stays with them as adults
  • Children are influencers on peers and parents/family
  • Children's TV shows/animation deliver messages in fun and easy to remember ways
