BDM106, Animation history notes, 14 July

Winsor McCay and Gertie the Dinosaur, 1914
first to bring characters to life and use key frames

Fluid motion, but some actions seemed to repeat, over and over.  Was this deliberate, or an accident?

Little Nemo
4,000 drawings in a month, some drawn on camera.  Colour added directly to each frame.

Winsor McCay How a Mosquito Operates
Really nice movement of the man, though he seems to also repeat some motions over and over without a reason.

Dreams of the Rarebit fiend: The Pet 1921
Clifford the Big Red dog's origin story?  Woman brings home a strange animal that grows and grows, in spite of her geriatric husband's purchase of "Rough on Rats" poison, until a flotill of biplanes and zeppelins are forced to take him out.  But was it all a dream?
