Meryl Streep

Following PBS (the US' Public Broadcasting System) and NPR (National Public Radio) on Facebook has brought so many interesting articles my way.  This popped up on my feed today.  They've done a series of animations based on celebrity interviews and they are so good!  I've discovered that I like the way people talking normally blends with animation.  It's not scripted dialogue, nobody's doing funny voices, there are no kooky sound effects.  That comes through visually.  In Meryl Streep's short, she tells a story about director Dino de Laurentis describing her as "an ugly pig" in Italian when she auditioned for King Kong.  But she knew Italian and she was able to say "I'm sorry to disappoint you" back to him in Italian.  This is captured visually in a swirl of Italian words that keeps filling the page until there's no background left.  A very elegant solution.

In terms of our research into styles, the background is a pale green and the figures are black and white. Sets and other characters pop in and out in black, white and grey tones.
