Ctrl D to duplicate file
use roto brush on top layer of footage (man icon with brush)
ctrl left click to change brush size, makes green brush with plus
alt click turns it red with minus
ctrl plus right or left arrow keys will move one frame over in either direction
go around body with green brush and release. body surrounded by pink line .red brush to take out parts that shouldn't be there. go frame to frame picking up and deleting bits until you get to the end of the clip
Can also use pen tool for more precise rotobrushing
in composition layer, you can see what's been rotoed ontop of black layer
effect controls: play with feathering to get it to look right.
go into effects menu, colour correct, and change colour of figure compared to background.
play with effects
to have text or other elements slide between figure and background, drop that layer between roto and movie layer.
liquify and photofilter effect with deep emerald density jacked up to 100%
could create transporter, time warp, underwater, anything! kinds of effects
Damaged Building
2D elements will be added to make a building looks like it's been damaged.
in Tracker at far right corner, hit track camera. program will analyze movement of camera in clip.
when target shows up, right click select solid and camera resize and orient box to match side of building
choose damage file, alt left click then release when it's in position over building. resize again if needed.
next: matching colour space of intro object to whole movie
effect-colour correction-curves and play with RBG of hole shadows until it's close to the RGB of the building shadows
under damage layer and masks, change from add to subtract to reverse the mask effect, play with mask feather until between 15 and 20 pixels
duplicate damage layer and rename mask
drag mask to underneath damage layer and change mask expansion under masks
dupe damage layer again and rename inside
delete mask option from inside
drag inside layer to below mask layer
you can see that the mask is revealing the under layer of the building.
toggle switch- trkmat-change from none to alpha
with move tool, push inside layer back on z blue handle to create fake depth illusion.
dupe damage again, change name to lower damage and make smaller. layer on top to cover bottom part of damage and feather masks to 15, change to add
with all layers active
.
dupe damage layer, alt drag and drop fire onto that layer
dupe damage layer, alt drag and drop smoke onto that layer. pen tool around it to create mask, feather edges, change mode from normal to screen, then under transform change opacity to make it more subtle.
Second lot of damage to the city: go back to camera track and find bullseye on second building. alt drag drop damage from project menu down to bullseye. resize and adjust colour curves to match this much greener building. The damage now appears to be floating in front of the other buildings, so pen tool a mask as the new damage is meant to appear in the show and hit stopwatch on mask path. This screens out everywhere damage should not appear. periodically adjust points so the building appears to be hiding the damage.
Very good tutorial today: Parth and I will investigate the rotoscoping effect for our drawn character and maybe some other effects for changing the tone of the set without changing the lighting.
