BSA303, Mapping out the Proposal, 27 February, 2017

Research for 303 should always relate back to my final project.
Use the same research question as 324
Proposal task:  This is what I THINK I'll be doing.
Dissertation task:  This is what I REALLY did.

Notes on writing the introduction

Title:  Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know:  A kids TV show about anger management and conflict resolution

Research question:  What's the most engaging way of introducing kids and their parents/adults to difficult emotional concepts?

ruth:  This isn't a social work/psychology paper, so look at "fencing" off the question so it doesn't get too big for you to handle.  Address why animation is the best method for asking this question.

revised question:  How can animation engage kids and adults with difficult emotional concepts like anger and conflict?

How can animation be used to present difficult emotional concepts?

To Do: email Little Airplane Productions and ask if they have an e-book to sell outlining what they cover in their children's television production workshops.

Brief statement:  Kids TV is used for entertaining, marketing, and educating.  Many countries require that shows exhibit a certain amount of education content.

There is a struggle between parents, community, and the academic system put in place by the state as to who is responsible for teaching moral values.

Kids' programming can provide a valuable starting point for discussions between parent and child, child and child, and community and child.

NZ has one of the highest rates of child and domestic abuse in the OECD.  There is a need for this kind of programming here and abroad.

Literature/contextual review means that books, tv, film, online sources, essays, and more is available for research purposes.
