BSA324, music theme song choice and new animatic opening idea, 12 September, 2017

I played the three songs that Anna has worked up for Rachel: Today's the Day, Mad Bad Dangerous to Know, and the Imagination Warehouse.  Rachel reckons Imagination Warehouse is the one!   It talks about lots of things that are important to tweens without making them too little or making them too old.  If Anna can "age up" her voices for the characters, that will keep it from sounding like a preschool show.  She reckons there should be something in there for the mums that want to watch it with their kids.  I will put it into  my animated piece so I will rework the opening to suit it.

How about this...
The new opening starts with Girl, very sad/emotional/angry running into her room and slamming the door.  She throws herself onto the bed and tucks her head under the pillows, then kicks her legs.  She rockets out of bed and onto her beanbag, establishing it's presence in her room.  She picks up a pad of drawing papers and markers nearby and begins to furiously draw.  She draws and draws and we see that she's drawing the imagination warehouse.  As this is coming into shape, the beanbag turns into Jellybean.  They exchange knowing glances: this is what we do when we're upset and we do it a lot.  They "enter" the drawing and the rest of the gang hears their entrance and emerge from behind the shelves or out of the jars and boxes.  Goldie "pours" herself out of the pasta jar, Teppy busts out of a pile of silver stuff, we see them running through Flash's VR/AR goggles POV which looks like they're running the bulls or something and then the camera shows us Flash as they pull off his goggles.  Prickles fly/swims on and Doctor Picklesniffer runs in with him.  Everybody comes running from all directions of the IW and collide in the center where they collapse in a heap, laughing.   Overhead shot of them all on their backs pointing at the "sky" of the Warehouse with closeup shots of each character and their names. The final shot is of Girl looking around in satisfaction and  the show title comes up on the screen.

Working show title: Girl and the Imagination Warehouse

Then straight into the episode as originally storyboarded.  Without Girl talking about her "problem of the day", how does that get introduced so we know what she's working out through her friends?  Maybe instead of instantly noticing that Jellybean is looking for a sock, she instead starts talking about HER problem (her friend was using her very favourite pencils and they should KNOW better!) and then notices that Jellybean is distracted.
