BSA325, logo and story development meeting, 14 March, 2017

agenda for today

  • multiple logo options on facebook.  need to print them out and discuss as a group

won't read well from a distance or when shrunk to postage stamp size, or turned grayscale

possible accidental "male symbol" linkage

This grouping of logos will be revisited for a clearer image

beautiful, but not clear because of gradations

hard to see from a distance

blocky letters hard to see, colour will be problematic if taken into grayscale

  • need to make a schedule for production
  • not everyone has applied for roles.  New deadline: letter explaining what and why you're the best person for the role due today at 5.  Roles will be given out tomorow.
  • F3 camera- something going on with this but can't hear/understand any of it. Filmies will take care of it.
  • Bubba the Storyteller has given Josh some books for us to look at.  We need to get started on story today.  Do we have script writing team yet?
We are considering 3 stories:  dog-headed demon steals woman who works hard to get away, brings back family to kill him.  2 headed dog turns into a rock formation
Captain sails his waka south to find the Southern Lights.  Returning waka wrecks on the rocks and the survivors tell the story of their trip.  Waka and crew become various parts of the night sky
Daughter of a chief and her parents are captured by rival tribe and interfering europeans.  wind god takes her and turns her tears into oysters.

Traci, Marco, Nathan and Johanna worked up ideas for two stories based on illustrated books by Bubba the storyteler

Southern lights story:  story being told around the fire- story comes alive in th flames
strong connection with stars, everybody looks at them
start in middle with drama of waka wrecking on rocks
go fast into their story, told in animation
burnt waka and parts turn into stars and other things, series of stories about the elements water, fire, earth and sky but would ideally take ten minutes each to tell.
oysters story
needs stronger resolution
oysters creations story, everyone knows
ties in with Bluff oysters
tears turning into oysters
look at individual stories
1/2 story of fighting and 1/2 story of her
wind god tells story with his breath
in media red- she wakes up in hand of wind god
story telling device- modern girl flashing back to story of the girl's tears.

Group discussion of 3 stories
